The tourist season starts in September or October, depending on the source.6

Cyclone Ockhi, a very severe cyclonic storm, passed about 90 km north of Minicoy on 1–2 Dec 2017.8
Cyclone Tauktae (13–14 May 2021) brought sustained winds of 85 km/h and 17 cm of rain to Agatti.9
Marine heatwaves caused severe coral bleaching in 2024; a Kavaratti survey found 84.6% of corals bleached.10

Sea and diving conditions
An Agatti dive centre reports 20–40 m underwater visibility and 27–30 °C water from October to May; June–September winds and swells limit boat trips.11
A model study of Androth found waves of 0.6–1.2 m in February–May, peaking around 2.4 m in June–August.12
Our reading of the data
January–April is the driest stretch at Agatti. November–April has light winds and falls inside the dive season. The fast boats return in September or October, but both months still average around 170 mm of rain.
